Realise that God created the earth, and then man in his own image, and that we are all under obligation to honour God as our Father in heaven, just as all children are under obligation to honour their parents.
2. OUR SMALLNESS AND DEPENDENCE
Realise how great God is and how small we are, that He causes the sun to rise each day, and gives us our daily bread, and that without Him we could not draw another breath, nor continue to live.
3. OUR CONSCIENCE AND CONVICTION
Realise that God is holy, that He knows all about us, that He reads our thoughts, that He is working on our consciences, convicting us of our sinfulness before Him, whatever goodness we think that we might have.
4. OUR REPENTANCE AND BELIEVING
Realise that when God works on our consciences, he requires from us the response us of repentance and faith, that is, that we turn from every sin and believe in the Saviour whom God has sent, the Lord Jesus Christ.
5. GOD'S MERCY AND SALVATION
Realise that, through Christ's death in the sinner's place, and through our humbly coming to him for mercy, we are freely forgiven, and are made into new creatures, receiving the Holy Spirit to dwell within us.
